SDS enclosure in the form of a mast adapter

Voltage-limiting devices (SDS) are used to prevent dangerous overvoltages between insulated tracks or track sections of electric railways and earthed parts of an installation as well as to ensure reliable equipotential bonding in case of a contact line short-circuit or earth fault. In the past, these voltage-limiting devices were typically installed on the tracks.

The new SDS enclosure, which is directly fixed at the contact line mast, allows to replace voltage-limiting devices without having to access the critical point of the track section. The spark gap unit is replaced by simply unscrewing the enclosure cover. To this end, the mast adapter does not have to be removed.
